Rilien stood before Arch Magus Kordring. The conversation had been long and the subject quite dire.
"Reinhardt... if you go through with this it will be against all Lycaeum protocol. We cannot have one of our own taking such a great risk..." The Arch Magus spoke sadly.
"I understand, If I must be returned to my cell then do it... I will not let those that have been effected by this crystal be hurt any further.." Rilien responded as he gazed into the old mage's eyes.
"Your debt has been long paid off Rilien... There is no cell waiting for you any longer. It was you who perpetuated your time here." Kordring spoke, bringing a look of surprise onto Rilien's face.
"If you indeed plan to go through with this..... I am afraid I have no choice but to dismiss you from your duties here. I wish you luck in your endeavors. You are also free from your vows.... I know where your skills lie Reinhardt. You can be trusted with your old spellbook once again." Kordring spoke as he handed a dusty tome to Rilien.
"Master.... I Can't.. what if-" Rilien spoke but was silenced by the Arch Magus.
"You won't fall again Reinhardt. Your heart is in the right place.... so stop doubting yourself. You won't possibly be able to deal with that kind of magic without being able to do what you do best. Now go" The Arch Magus pointed to the doorway as he finished.
Rilien arrived back at his home. He strolled into his living area and found Renna still asleep upon the loveseat. She had slept through the entire day. He sighed, he did not wish to wake her. The quiet of his home seemed to do her good, it gave her an escape from having to deal with the crystal constantly. His entrance had been far from silent, As he attempted to slip upstairs she awoke. He sat with her for a few hours and chatted with her...
*Some time later*
Rilien slipped from the home quietly, so as not to wake Renna. He stood at the shore and gazed outward across the sea. He thought over the whole situation repeatedly. No matter what spell was cast from the crystal... something negative was going to happen as well. He knew exactly which spell The Monk wanted to cast... and he also knew the results would likely be his death. His loophole to all this seemed to be going in circles as well. Even if he could remove the evil from the crystal and rend it balanced... the fact of the matter is that evil presence would still have to be contained in another object, turning that object into yet another version of the crystal. Perhaps the spell to free life from it was their best bet. But even after that, what would become of the Crystal? The Daemon was quite direct about there being no other way to deal with it. Rilien mused, He had to find a way. The Crystal contained life and death.. and an innate hatred born likely from the spirits of those it was crafted from.
"How can I just reverse it all...What could be removed or contain within the crystal that could cause it to release all of those it has trapped." Rilien spoke as he kicked a rock into the shallows.
Something seemed to come to him in that moment. The Words in his head seemed a bit risky but part of him felt it had been right in front of him all along. There was indeed powerful magics alive within the crystal....But harmless if it's very fabric was disturbed.... destroying it and rendering it's powers at the same time.... The words whispered in his head... "In Vas Ex Ort"
Rilien ran inside, writing down what he had come up with. He then quietly returned upstairs, doing his best not to awaken his guest. Perhaps now he had a plan... but executing it would be tricky. Ein had already made his decision...
