Nostalgia was a bitch. Lingering on choices you’ve already made and the consequences that are coming down the line is a waste of time. You can’t change your decisions, you have to deal with them. That’s what it meant to be a grown up, right? Kesla would have been proud of her for sure at the lie to the Monk. David would have been proud of her lack of morals when it came to trade. All in all she was shaping up to be everything she’d said she never would be. It had been years since she’d seen Kesla, and David lay cold in the ground. Nevertheless, it was their hands she felt guiding her now.
I have reasons…
You have excuses you want to pass for reasons.. It’s fine, we did too..
She could hear the inner monologue as clearly as if Kesla had been standing before her.
She was more than this though, more than a sum of what they’d created. More than Thomas’ teachings. More than the leather and more than the lace. It had been said recently that the Anskitas were where they gypsies had come from. Did that make her, by default Anskitas blood? Or did that make her a pretender hoping to find a connection.
A connection.. She glanced across the table at Galnor. The trips to Papua had proven fruitful, even…. Enjoyable. The tide between Sosarian waters and the lost lands had been rocky lately but it came with the territory. Yes, she thought as she laid her gloves down on the table. Rocky had always been something she could handle. It was uncertainty she failed miserably at.
