The Trinsic Council
By proclamation of Governor Chanticleer Reich, near the end of the fifth term of his Governorship, the Trinsic Council was re-established as the governing body of the City of Honor.
Brief History: During much of Trinsic’s history, it was ruled by a triad of powers: 1) Mayor, the city’s political leader elected by vote of the citizenry, 2) Lord General, appointed by the crown, who served as the commander of the city’s martial forces; and 3) an advisory council consisting of the city’s guild leaders, nobility and prominent citizens.
A couple of years prior to Nystul’s spell that created the facet of Trammel, the Mayor, Lord General, and the entirety of the Trinsic Council was murdered by the villain Renthar and his band of assassins, known as the Order. Following this massacre, a new council came to power, and among their number was the long-serving Lord General and paladin leader, Rutger Dag, as well as Mayor Kara Windsong, the first mage to hold the position.
As the decades passed, this iteration of the council fell out of favor. After Blackthorn ascended to the throne of Britannia and created the governor system, the city was ruled by a series of governors. One of them, Lyra Darkstar appointed a new advisory council consisting of 1) the Knight-Marshall, the leader of the Holy Fist, Trinsic’s officially-recognized knightly order, 2) a representative from the city’s merchants, and 3) a representative of the city’s nobility. During the existence of this council, Piper Swift occupied the Knight-Marshall’s seat, Lord Elias Carver held the merchant’s seat, and the nobles were represented by Lord Alfred de Hugh, until he was murdered by the Thieves Guild, and then later by his son, Lord Everett de Hugh.
But the council soon came into conflict with Ine Dir’ath, the Sosarian Socialist agitator who was unexpectedly able to win the Trinsic governorship. As tensions continued to mount, Ine ordered the council disbanded. Both Elias Carver and Everett de Hugh were eventually slain by Ine and his followers.
Now, Governor Reich has re-established the council, based on the city’s history and traditions, as well as a need to meet the city’s present day challenges.
The Council: The council established by the proclamation consists of the following members:
The Mayor: The political leader of Trinsic, responsible for political decisions and overseeing the enforcement of Trinsic’s Code of Laws. By default, the Mayor is also the city’s elected governor, but a majority of the council can select another to occupy this position.
The Lord General: As in days of lore, the Lord General is in charge of the city’s defenses and military forces, while also serving a ceremonial role as its champion. However, this Lord General is now appointed by Trinsic’s Mayor, rather than by the crown.
The Advisory Council: The advisory council consists of five unique seats, each one representing different factions of the city’s population. These council members are selected from volunteers or leaders of the following groups:
The Noble Seat: Represents the nobility of Trinsic.
The Commoner Seat: Represents the common citizens of Trinsic.
The Merchant Seat: Represents the Trader and Craft Guilds of Trinsic.
The Professions Seat: Represents the Non-Trade Professions of Trinsic.
The Sons of the Sea Seat: Represents the Sons of the Sea Guild and Trinsic’s port.
