I'm not a podcast person, so this isn't going to happen often. But I wanted to share this in case it interested any of you. This podcast episode gripped me completely. It's about why fiction might have evolved, and about us being storytelling animals. Don't worry about it being part 2; part 1 dealt with nonfiction. It might be interesting, but I never had an urge to go back and find it. It's from CBC Ideas with Paul Kennedy. Try the first ten minutes some time you're bored and see if you stay for the whole thing. The evolutionary origins of human storytelling: Vestigial Tale, Part 2
(I am not involved in any way with this episode, this podcast, or the CBC.)
