We're going to try out an IRC channel and see if the group finds it useful at all. It's easy to use. Go here: webchat.quakenet.org/Nickname: Use whatever name you are known as Channel: #uocatsrpThen click "Join Chat", and you're in. If you need any help let me know. Anyone in the Catskills roleplaying community is welcome to join.

Is this a voice chat or typing? Not up much on IRC channels. I do know that in Lotro we use Teamspeak.

Typing. It's just an out-of-game chatroom.

Here is a guide for setting up IRC on Trillian. 1. Click on the "Trillian" button at the top, select "Manage Accounts" 2. On the Accounts window, click on the button that says "Add a new account..." and select IRC. 3. Enter in your character's name in the Username and the Nickname field. For the server, enter "us.quakenet.org:6667-6669", then click "Connect". If a window pops up right after you click Connect, you can close it. Close the Manage Accounts window. 4. Click on the tiny blue IRC button in the top right corner of Trillian's contact list, and select "Join a Channel..." 5. For Room Title, type #uocatsrp. Leave the password field blank. Once you click "Join", then a new window showing the chat room will open up.

Yeah, I've been using it with Trillian and it's pretty simple.
MORE PEOPLE SHOULD BE THERE.

I keep meaning to give it a try, but tonight I played old and sat in the chair in the living room, cat in lap and fell asleep. I am sure I looked most heroic. It looks simple enough to use, so tomorrow I will try to peek in.

Wait... I can do it through Trillian?! Yeah. I've been doing it for a bit now and find it much easier to log in that way and keep track of it.

How is the channel working out for folks? I have logged in a few times, then go to look at something and misplace the channel.

It's usually pretty quiet. I try to hang around in it just to give it a body, but I'm usually afk during the day and watching it in the evening. So far it's proven somewhat useful; we've had a few good convos. Just needs more people using it. Maybe tomorrow or Saturday I'll post a guide to setting it up on pidgin, which is how I've been accessing it.

*nods* I will try to log over a bit more often. I think it will really be useful for discussions and to help RPers find each other. Just sometimes takes a wee bot for something to catch on.

As we're no longer using #uocatsrp or IRC for guild communication, I'm letting this thread fall.
