He stood in the clearing silently, The significance of this location did not slip his mind. It was here that he failed on his last mission and was “terminated” from his position as an Assassin. He did not have to wait long.
“I cannot believe you are still alive, for someone as worthless as you to have resisted.” Sekmeht stepped from the shadows of the tree line and spoke.
“You’d think you would understand how hard I am to kill..” Amon replied with a smile.
“You are as clueless as you are arrogant, I do not know what you meant to achieve here. But this conversation is over” Sekmeht spoke as he bared his fangs and drew his blade from his side.
The vampire lunged forward, barely giving Amon time to respond with his own blade. Sparks flew as metal collided with metal. Amon slid backwards on his heels, the inhuman strength of his opponent dwarfing his own. Regaining his balance he pushed forward on him, stepping his own foot behind The Vampire’s. Using his weight against him he threw him to the ground and fell forward plunging his blade into his heart.
Sekmeht cried out in pain, but was soon smiling again. He grabbed Amon by his sword arm and slowly pulled it back, drawing the blade from his body.
“If I were any other creature of the night…. That would have ended me…. Pity isn’t it?” Sekmeht spoke with a grin as he threw Amon from on top of him to the forest floor.
“Can’t blame me for trying…” Amon spoke as he got back to his feet in a combat stance.
The vampire lunged forward again, this time his speed caught Amon completely off guard. He could hardly keep up with his attacks, he parried blows but others began finding their way through his defenses. The Vampire’s blade cut into his armor and flesh, blood sprayed across the ground and Amon could feel himself slowly losing his footing.
In a last ditch effort Amon quickly threw a smoke bomb into Sekhmet’s face. The undead assassin grabbed his face by reflex giving Amon a chance to slip away. Amon quickly darted to the right, but suddenly felt something sharply tug him backwards by his armor. He flew backwards slamming into a tree trunk. Suddenly a blade slammed through his right shoulderblade pinning him to the tree painfully. He cried out in pain as the vampire twisted the blade, driving it deeper into the tree securing it.
“You really are a fool… summoning me here with a third party… just to be such a pitiful opponent. Your predecessors were not so overconfident” Sekmeht spoke as he looked upon his wounded and secure opponent.
“Third time’s a charm huh?.....” Amon replied as best as he could with the pain coursing through his body.
“Third….? Now I see. You really think you were the third experiment don’t you? You really think you are the original Amon.” Sekmeht spoke, grinning like a child who has a secret.
“Let me tell you something you foolish little whelp. You are just an expendable tool, a storage space for memories. You aren’t infamous and you certainly aren’t elite.” The Assassin spoke driving his foot into the chest of his helpless opponent.
Amon gasped sharply as the breath was knocked out of him. He looked up at The Vampire in confusion.
“Still don’t get it do you? Training assassins is costly. Keeper found a way to cut back on that cost. All he needs is a clean slate to copy onto. You are not the first “Amon” and you certainly won’t be the last. You are just a nobody with the memories and training of another stuck into your skull.” Sekmeht grinned as he kicked Amon in the chest again, harder this time.
“….What are you trying to say….. I know what I’ve done. You aren’t going to mess with my head Sekmeht!!” Amon responded as he caught his breath
again.
“Oh this is so cute. You really think you are some trained killer. News flash kid, You failed your first mission. You aren’t a killer, you are just some shmuck who was hauled off the street a year ago. You are a failed experiment… and that’s all. To think you could resist with willpower alone is…. Well silly” Sekmeht spoke as he drew a second blade from his side.
Amon stared at him in disbelief from the information that was just given to him. He could feel himself beginning to lose consciousness from the pain and blood loss. The vampire raised his blade ready to finish him off, he knew this was the end. His only comfort now was that the others should be safe at the meeting. But with this reveal from Sekmeht, He didn’t want to die anymore. Not that he had much of a choice. As the vampire moved forward he closed his eyes and cursed to himself.
“Shit…..Who the hell am I….?”
That was when the sound of a bow string filled the air….
