History: Chanticleer was born in Magincia but raised in Skara Brae. Both his parents were dead by the time he was twelve years old, and he was subsequently adopted by his mother's older brother, a proud nobleman. For a time, he resided in Magincia with his uncle, aunt, and older cousins Randall and Julia. After an incident Chanticleer refuses to discuss, he was sent away to Jhelom to be schooled in the art of combat. During this time, the city of Magincia was destroyed by demons. His aunt and cousins were slain in this attack and his uncle vanished, leaving the warrior-in-training to fend for himself.
Upon completion of his studies, Chanticleer wandered without purpose. He was eventually hired by Countess Isabella de Mor of Trinsic, who was organizing a force to oppose the Atalan, a race of constructs that threatened her city. The young warrior strongly disliked his employer, especially after she abandoned Trinsic's defense without warning. Chanticleer later ventured to the town of Northridge, a small town in the mountains of Malas owned by a trading company de Mor was involved with.
In Northridge, he was introduced to the Countess Aurelia Bretane of Ashencrosse, who had been granted authority over de Mor's failed Trinsic guardsmen unit. When Countess Bretane left Northridge and returned to Ashencrosse, the young warrior joined her and was subsequently knighted. For months, he proudly and loyally served the Countess and her lands as the Knight of the Fist, until one day Bretane confessed that she, as well as de Mor, were secretly vampires. Disgusted by this betrayal, Chanticleer demanded at swordpoint to be released from his vows and then departed Ashencrosse.
The former knight was reunited with his uncle, who had resurfaced as a member of Vesper's Ministry of Mercantiles under the name Julian Randall. The two reconciled, and Randall named Chanticleer his new heir. However, while investigating rumors of a demon threat on his uncle's behalf, the young warrior mysteriously vanished ...
