Dervish stood stoically in the Great Hall, his tall, athletic form adorned with white tribal paint. His sported bone armor, crafted from the remains of beasts, animals, and human was trimmed in red cloth, adding a bold contrast to the starkness of his paint. Multiple visible scars marked his body, testaments to the battles he had fought, both won and lost. William Castle had sent word for his attendance, Dervish’s skills in tracking were needed for a contract.
The halls where Dervish stood was filled with warmth from the grand fireplace, as the intricate carvings on the wooden walls casted dancing shadows across the floor. Despite the cozy atmosphere, Dervish remained alert, his sharp eyes scanning the room for any signs of danger. Dervish stood tall, his imposing figure cutting and impressive, the white tribal paint on his skin accentuated his battle-honed presence.
As he awaited William Castle's arrival, Dervish's mind recalled the many meetings held in the Great Hall, where important decisions were made, and alliances formed. In this magnificent building, he came to appreciate the warmth of Viking hospitality and the camaraderie of his fellow Rovers.
Finally, William along side two hunters entered the Great Hall, Dervish greets them with respectful deference. Together, the two Rovers alongside the hunters engage in the business at hand, determining their next moves.
William Castle and Dervish heeded the call of the small hunting company that was struggling with a widespread corruption in their village's forest. The hunters explained that a malevolent force had taken hold of the forest spirit, leading to the emergence of an enormous beast, which had been devouring both local game and helpless hunters.
Armed with their wits and their weapons, the two Rovers set out into the forest, on the hunt for the monster that threatened the local community. As Dervish and William Castle entered the forest, Dervish took the lead, using his knowledge of tracking and hunting to keep them on course.
As they progressed, they could sense something ominous about the forest, and the sound of rustling leaves accompanied by eerie whispers gave them a feeling of being watched. Nonetheless, William and Dervish pushed on, determined to quell the corruption and rid the forest of the sinister beast.
As they approached the clearing, they spied the beast: an enormous, blood-red, wolf-like creature that towered over them. The beast let out a ferocious roar, challenging the two warriors to a fight, its jaws snapping and its claws tearing at the ground.
The creature lunged at them, and Dervish swiftly dodged its attack, narrowly avoiding being clawed. The corrupted beast’s ferocity was unmatched. Dervish saw that they needed to gain the upper hand, Dervish tightened the grip along his spear and used it to create some distance between them and the beast. He circled the creature, probing its defenses with jabs from the spear, waiting for an opening.
William, seeing that Dervish was in trouble, decided to take a gamble and shift into a large, grizzly bear, using his immense strength and durability to bolster their ability to fight back. An intense surge of energy rushes through William's body, causing his muscles to bulge and the veins on his arms to stand out like cords of steel. He feels a tingling sensation pulses throughout his body, and his eyes begin to flicker with a misty, ice-blue glow.
As the changes continue, William's skin turns an ashen grey, and in place of his fingers, his long, sharp claws begin to emerge. His limbs twist and contort, snapping bones and tendons in a sickening cacophony of pops and snaps.
Heat and steam swirl around William's body in a frantic dance, emanating from his pores and creating a hazy aura around him. It is almost as if his body is burning from the inside out, and as the transformation reaches its peak, his head elongates and features sharpen, until he is a terrifying beast with razor-sharp fangs and fierce, glowing eyes.
Dervish's eyes widened momentarily as he watched William transform into a large bear. Despite the surprise of the transformation, he remained stoic, his gaze unwavering from the current threat. A small smile, hidden beneath his tribal mask reflected his thoughts, knowing that he was in the presence of someone connected to the spirit world, even if just adjacent to it increased his morale bolstering his own fighting spirit.
Dervish mirrored the bear's posture, timing his spears strikes perfectly with the bear's blows, using his skill to weaken the wolf-like beast. The fight was bloody and gruesome, with blood spraying everywhere as the creature's massive claws tore at the flesh of William and Dervish, leaving deep gashes and wounds.
With the bear and Dervish working in tandem, they started to get the upper hand. Dervish dealt blows with his spear while the grizzly bear used brute force to destabilize the creature. As a result, the momentum shifted, and the two Rovers began to carve a path of destruction through the creature's massive body.
The fight continued, becoming more frenzied with every passing second. The creature continued to lash out, taking Dervish and the bear by surprise. Yet, with their combined strength, they managed to land increasingly devastating blows, bruising, and weakening the beast.
Eventually, the beast became weary and slowed down, allowing William and Dervish to work together, hitting it with multiple well-coordinated blows. As they gained ground, they saw an opportunity to land a massive hit, and William landed a crushing blow, smashing the creature to the ground. The beast now stunned and gasping for breath, Dervish climbed on top of its massive body and pushed forward his spear through the creatures’ neck, ending it.
