Summary: Despite their prior setbacks, the Technocrats remain a threat, intent on capturing the Emerald Empress and Renthar. The Emerald Fist decides it is time to be proactive, and formulates plans to learn more about their foes, as well as potentially trap them into revealing themselves.
10/20/2018:
Following the Emerald Empress' suggestion, the Emerald Fist and their allies decided to seek out a Xorinite Wisp to learn more about the mysterious Technocrats. Guided by the ranger Tserim, they found one known to linger in Spiritwood. This wisp seemed to be expecting them, and it offered to trade what they desired in exchange for a tome called the Ordo Lucis Libri, located within the libray of Terort Skitas in Ilshenar.
At the entrance of the dungeon, the group encountered the paladin Deraj, a former comrade of some present. Months prior, he had disappeared pursuing a demon into the mysterious Dark Woods. But now, he had returned and was also seeking the Ordo Lucis Libri to thwart a shadow demon that he hunted. Despite suspicion about whether this was the true Deraj, the Fist agreed to retrieve the book with him. Inside, they discovered it was missing, and Deraj suggested it was in his quarry's possession. He stated they must kill the demon on sight, before it could manipulate them.
The paladin led them to Minoc, where they confronted the alleged demon, a sellsword named Gauf Guthvigoff, at the Barnacle Tavern. Instead of attacking, the group decided to question and search both Gauf and his accuser, and they soon discovered that "Deraj" was the true shadow demon, and he was already in possession of the tome. Though it was recovered, the demon was able to escape due to Bacchus' laziness with his paralyze spells.
Upon returning to Emerald Town, Gauf revealed that he and Deraj were once part of the Ordo Lucis (Order of Light), a defunct band of witch hunters. Though its text appeared to be giggerish, the Ordo Lucis Libri contained the order’s history, member list, and rules. Most likely, the shadow demon wanted to trick the Fist into slaying Gauf as an act of revenge against the order. Gauf also informed them thatno harm would come from trading it to the Xorinite.
10/30/2018:
After considering the matter, the Fist traded the Ordo Lucis Libri to the Xorinite. In return, the wisp provided them with an intelligence report from Everywhere, homeworld of the Technocrats. This reported insinuated that the Technocrats who had journeyed to Sosaria belonged to a rogue faction, and that their leadership and membership consisted of someone called Lector Stavros, the Sister Niva they had encountered on two prior occasions, and twin brothers who held the rank of Mathematician within the order.
Intelligence Report by Relvinian
Your Majesty,
As you requested, I have compiled an updated intelligence report on the Technocrats of Logosia who come from the hidden kingdom at Everywhere’s center.
Despite strained relations otherwise, Guard Captain Olsen and Captain Basil of Emerald Town have been in contact about this, and no new Technocrat activity has been reported by their scouts sent to patrol “The End,” the dungeon containing the portal to the Technocrats’ land. As far as appearances go, Logosia still honors the agreement to withdraw from our lands.
This, of course, contradicts all the recent, and unverified, sightings of Technocrats in the south and west. Details of this force are scarce. They are fewer than an army but large enough to be considered a threat. In the most detailed encounter, near the ruins of what was once Londinium, a group of wandering orphans saw a force of black robed humans, automatons, and creatures made of flesh and machine marching through. So they have at least some Logosian technology with them.
Captain Basil informed Guard Captain Olsen of another incident involving a band of merchants visiting Emerald Town to trade for food. They had strange numerical tattoos and did not offer coins to barter, but finely-crafted tools. One member of Emerald Town’s Council, the monk Ellin Lionsden, spotted these merchants as they traded in the Market District. You might recall that she was a Technocrat prisoner before the war. She swore upon her Twin Suns that she recognized the faces of three of them, a female spy called Niva, and twin brothers who were ranking Mathematicians.
Like you suggested, I questioned our seer prisoner about it. Her response (as it often is) was vague, but she mentioned a certain phrase I interpreted as important:
“Lector Stavros will rain fiery vengeance upon those who wronged his Prophet.”
From my reading, Lector is one of the highest ranks within the Technocrat hierarchy, but I do not know this name, Stavros.
My theory (and Guard Captain Olsen agrees), is that these Technocrats belonged to the ones sent to rescue the Techno-Prophet from Emerald Town, but they did not return to Logosia with their brethren. Their reasons for remaining, their whereabouts during the war, and their current objectives are still a mystery. We will continue to search for answers to keep Britannia and the Everywhere safe.

Following the suggestion of Edward the Churl to set a trap for the Technocrats, the Emerald Fist joined forces with the Riverwatch Rangers to defeat the Clockwork Exodus in Ilshenar and use his parts as bait. Together, the two groups went to the Exodus Dungeon, where they gathered the keys necessary to confront the giant automaton.
11/18/2018:
The Emerald Fist and Riverwatch Rangers performed the ritual necessary to enter the ruins of Ver Log Reg. Inside, they battled and destroyed the Clockwork Exodus automaton. Following the creature's destruction, the Fist salvaged its components and transported them back to the Emerald Town on the back of a hardy pack horse called Sexodus.
11/24/2018:
The Emerald Empress informed the Fist that their would-be ally, Renthar, requested a private meeting in the ruins of the lich Veltryn’s laboratory, beneath the Dragonhame mountains of Felucca. Upon their arrival, the sorcerer greeted them. He raised Faeryl’s choice to spare the spirit of Arturos Castile, and how its prolonging of the Technocrat conflict meant they needed to discuss potential strategies against their mutual foes.
Following this, and Renthar answered their questions and then asked a favor of the group: a vial of Bacchus’ blood. When pressed, the sorcerer explained how Bacchus was the biological grandson of Mitre, the native Renthar of their shard-world, and he required the blood for a ritual to contact his late counterpart's spirit and learn his secrets. When Bacchus refused, Renthar urged him to reconsider.
