Story of Hal-Sar
By Mithaecus
I am Mithaecus and this is the story, as far as I know, of Hal-Sar. There are some details that may be embellished in one fashion or another, but as our friendship grew so did my knowledge of him. Let’s go back to what was known as his beginning.
Deep in Ter-Mer a pregnant gargoyle flies as quick as she can to escape her captors. But alas, she was captured. This cult impregnated her with a being that is beyond Sosaria. (Now if you knew my story you would know that there is more than what you could imagine, in this world as well as beyond.) Well, it is quite unclear as to what was supposed to be impregnated into her. Some say demon, some say deity, but I think it was a very powerful spell or curse. When she finally gave birth, it just so happens that a war party made of humans and elves came to “cleanse” the place at the request of the gargoyle queen. The war party didn’t have the heart to destroy a newborn infant, so they brought this small creature to the Royal City for refuge. There was an amulet with the small child with a single word or name on it… Dekorp. When the leader of the party presented the infant to the queen, she saw the amulet and screamed with rage that the child should be killed or exiled. She did not want this (for lack of a better word and Hal if you ever read this then please forgive me) “thing” in her lands. So, the party tried to save its life by taking it to an orphanage, but by the time they got there, word had spread to not accept this child. Being full of compassion, they brought the child to a human family away from Ter-Mur. He was named Hal-Sar (for who knows what reason) and the amulet was destroyed for fear of anyone finding out he survived.
Well, lets fast forward since there was no tale of his up-bringing, other than the normal preparing the child for adult life out in the world. Hal-Sar learned to be alone and welcomed it, but little did anyone know he was watched by a sorcerer. It is unclear exactly what happened, but Hal-Sar was poisoned with blackrock and eventually thought they were cookies. When I finally met Hal, he seemed addicted to these ‘cookies’ and always ate them. It seemed to lower his intelligence a great deal and eventually almost killed him. I felt the need to return the favor of saving his life; I found someone who knew of a great sorcerer and assured me that he could help. After a long voyage, Hal was closer to death than he was to life. After many painful experiments, Hal-Sar lives! This sorcerer seemed to know a great deal of Hal and told me this story. He also warned that Dekorp is roughly translated to ‘of death’. (Honestly, why this bit of information was considered a warning I am unsure) I was also warned that there are still some out there that want Hal to be erased from existence. This sorcerer seemed quite eccentric, so please take this story as you like. I will say Hal-Sar is obsessed with the undead.
