Name: Alyssia Kanath
Lineage: House Kanath, Thunderlord Clan: Stormwind. Arbiter (ret.)
Titles: Too many to list. Not all of them flattering. (Those are her favorites)
Race: Thunderlord (Human)
Age: You can try to ask her, but the odds are she’s forgotten.
Height: 5’6” (so she says)
Hair: Straight, shoulder length, and full-bodied. Light auburn with streaks of vibrant red
Eyes: Emerald green
Build: Athletic
Temperament:
Alyssia is typically charismatic and jovial, happy to entertain those around with roguish charm and quippy verbal jests. But she is a Thunderlord and passionate in both her love and her anger. Because of this her personality can shift in short order, switching from joker to cold killer in an instant. To Alyssia, morality is dependent on the situation and unlike her Ranger kin she enjoys killing and has been known to calmly run a man through or choke the life out of him if she thought he was deserving. Her third and most personal method is through electrocution. Proving that it is never a good idea to piss off a woman who can control elemental lightning. She is prone to dark moods and depression but hides it almost masterfully and will only open up to people she trusts. Instead, she has spent her life self-medicating in an effort to push the emotions as deep and far out of the light as possible.
Description:
When not on the road promoting what she calls “business ventures” or at home with her wife Katryn, Alyssia can occasionally be found in her favorite taverns drinking the night away with friends and telling tales of her many adventures. She speaks with a husky brogue and is quick to flash the ladies a crooked, roguish grin or wink at the occasional man who may catch her glittering beryl eyes. Typically she is dressed in dark men’s clothing save one item. A blue silken sash tied around her waist over the black, double-breasted overcoat she wears. The end tassel falls over her right hip and nearly down to her knee. Loose fitting trousers are tucked into a pair of matching riding boots. Atop her head is almost always a black flat cap and if she’s not wearing it in public is usually means she’s lost yet another one. A wicked looking broadsword is slung low upon her left hip and a large serrated hunting knife is sheathed in her utility belt. In her right ear is a silver wolf stud earring and a silver loop pierces the rim. She is covered in a number of tattoos and scars but they are almost all hidden beneath layers of clothing. The only scar visible is upon her throat. A jagged white tear runs across and up the right side of her neck. At some point, she had gotten her throat torn open and lived to tell the tale. As painful as that tale may be. On her left forearm is a wolf surrounded by lightning as it howls at the moon. It denotes the oldest title given to her. Called the Stormwolf by friends and foes alike, it has always been her favorite moniker and longest lasting. The story of how she got it is one of her favorites. The only other notable markings save bands of her people’s knotwork around her biceps is a large image over her left hip. A dove flying in a storm and any sensitive to Fae magic would feel the glamour radiating from the tattoo. It almost seems alive the more one looks at it. On her left shoulder blade is a large branding scar, the skin still raised and pink as if it were still fresh. Though she got it at thirteen, the magical nature of the binding ritual it once held keeps the wound painful to the touch. One thing that many people tend to note is her ego and cockiness. Well deserved some would say, but her egocentric behavior often tends to come from her trying to escape the self-hatred that constantly stabs at her soul.
History:
After her parents were murdered when she was 13, the Alyssia was taken in by the Rangers of the Heart and raised in the Spiritwood. Though never one to call herself a true Ranger, she has a loving affinity for animals of all kinds and holds a deep and lasting respect for the natural order. She attempted to embrace their ideals but as she got older the warrior began to struggle within the confines of Que’s Tavern and left to begin her adult life. Through that life, Alyssia has held many jobs and titles. From Arbiter of her people to the Captain of Queen Silvara Takissis’ royal guard, Ranger and Knight Commander. Mercenary and bounty hunter. And now she has settled back into being a Ranger again, wandering to new places and embracing the open road. She is currently the oldest Thunderlord alive and has lost track of how many centuries she has been forced to live between her travel back and forth from different worlds. Three times she has died and three times she has been brought back against her will. A decade ago her physical youth was restored by the Demon Baeluel. He had attempted to kill her but instead, she tricked him into rejuvenating her body and giving her his sword “Retribution.” The deal ended up being much better for her than it was for him by far. No longer an “elder” politician, Alyssia has embraced life fully once again and prefers long nights with good friends, bawdy tavern songs, and whatever drug or drink she fancies at the moment rather than arguing over politics. Though, if someone gets her started on her opinions it’s not that easy to get her to stop. Some habits are hard to break.
The Rangers of the Heart:
The RoH has been around since time immemorial. Que’s Tavern was always their gathering place and even though almost all of the Elder Rangers have traveled on to the mists, Alyssia will defend Que’s with her dying breath. It has always been her true home. Since the beginning, Que’s has been a neutral bastion away from the wars and strife of Sosaria. It is one of the only places she has ever felt at peace. And though the building has moved a couple of times and changed in size, it still holds for her the only good memories she has ever had from her youth. She keeps the memories of her brothers and sisters close to her heart and she knows that leaving it in the hands of James while she is gone on her trips was one of the best decisions she and Ruden ever made. And atop Que’s is the most sacred of Ranger artifacts. The Rock of Dihn. Covered in the names of every Ranger of the Heart who ever walked Sosaria, the magical stone binds them together as one family. Imbuing it’s power upon all of them who walk the Spiritwood and creating a vital link between them and the forest they protected. It sings to them when there is peace and wails when violence or evil threatened to harm the woods they loved.
