Stumbled into a quaint tavern on the East side of Britain this evening. Was invited to a table with a rather cheerful group of strangers to me at the time. Over a fine evening of drinks and light food managed to make several acquaintances. Perhaps some solid and honest work will come of the meetings.
Edred returned to the inn for the evening, "Sweet Dreams" and checked in. Before making his way to his room he informed the innkeeper that if someone by the name of Judas came for him to let him know that I'd be in Britain for the week.

*after a restful night of sleep Edred awoke...slightly hungover and a little grogy*
He spent the morning getting himself out of bed, by midday he was upright and felt well enough to get going on some business. He made his way to the tanner. "The Best Hides of Britain" Edred read the sign as he entered.
He picked up an order to fill and set out to gather the hides. The order would probably take the remainder of the week to complete. With little time to waste he gathered his belongings from the Inn and made his way to the woods.

Edred had nearly lost track of time, he realized the sun was going to set soon and that daylight would be behind him. He began to setup a small camp site after clearing a small area beneath a row of trees. Prepping a fire and bringing back some fresh water from the creek near by he settled in for the evening.
He had gathered 12 deer...his orders would require that he gather 12 more. He'd spend tomorrow preparing the hides and tending to the meat. He would try his best to let very little of the animal go to waste. Smoking the meat would allow him to bring it back to the Britain butchers who would be eager to purchase it.
After a small meal of rabbit and fried potatoes, Edred was ready to let the darkness of night carry him off to sleep.

The day was spent tending to the deer he hunted from yesterday.
The venison was smoking, the campsite was warm as the fire continued to roar while a faint trail of smoke escaped from the top of the make-shift smoker. The hides were hung over several low hanging tree branches...they'd make an excellent set of leather armor or a variety of other useful items, Edred thought.
The sun was again setting as Edred continued to prep his campsite and prepare to settle in for another night under the stars. He set a kettle over the fire, heating some water for a cup of tea, while he waited for his fried fish to be ready.
A couple more days in the woods and he'd be finished with his order of hides. Britain was not far off and then he'd head home for a short stay.
Huddled close to the fire Edred sat on a sturdy fallen tree branch as he rubbed his hands together in front of the fire warming them. The night air was cooler than usually...luckily, as Edred looked up into the darkening sky he could hardly see a cloud...a quiet night it would be.

the next couple of days came and went quickly.
The sun rose and Edred woke from his restful sleep. He packed up his campsite and prepared for the short ride back into town. He was able to break down the campsite quickly. Leaving little behind to indicate he had just spent several nights there. That's how he preferred to leave things...as they were or as close to it.
The hides were strapped down over the pack horse. Edred untied Riverwind from the tree and mounted up for the ride. Everything was ready and off they went.
After finishing his business with the Tanner, Edred made a quick stop at the Salty Dog.
He ran into several people he had met just a week ago and several new faces. The tavern was busy, drink flowed quickly from their glasses. Stories were told, people were warm and friendly. The ale was strong, the food could have been better that evening, but drinking more quickly diminished those thoughts. As the night went on the crowd died down and became more peaceful.
Edred finished his ale and said his good byes. He hoped that soon, Judas, would have some work available. Though truthfully Edred was ready for a little relaxing in the comforts of his own home.

His short day long journey home was peaceful. The weather was changing. The beginnings of fall were starting to show. Leaves had a slight hint of color to them and the wind had picked up blowing Southeast. His home was the way he left it. Luckily he had several close by neighbors who would often stop by to check on things.
Opening the door to his small home it felt empty and cold. making his way inside he lit a few candles and worked on getting a fire started to take the chill out of the air. Once he had the fire going he got a kettle and began to boil some water. Hot tea sounded like a soothing drink after a long ride, he thought. Removing is stiff soled leather boots, Edred tossed on his soft leather shoes. He removed his leather armor and dressed himself in a pair of wool pants and shirt and pulled over a worn wool sweater for a little extra warmth. The tea was ready, he poured a cup and went about his evening planning dinner and a few random chores around the house.

Nearly a week passed since Edred had returned home. He spent the time preparing his home for winter. He split fire wood, brought in the remaining cool weather vegetables from his small garden and stored them in the root cellar. Other random chores and time wasters filled his days as well.
The following morning after his final day of winter prep he set off for Britain. He gathered some supplies and locked up his place before heading out.
He arrived in Britain late that afternoon and checked into the Inn, SweetDreams. He settled in and then left to head to the Salty Dog Tavern.
He ran into several familiar faces and a couple of new ones. Aingeal and him spoke for a bit and she helped him with an elixir that would hopefully relieve some of his sore and achy muscles from all the nights spent sleeping outdoors on his adventures. He looked forward to using it and thanked her for her interesting knowledge of strange concoctions.
The tavern was busy, but as the evening went on the numbers dwindled. During the height of the night Edred heard many interesting conversations of places and things he knew little of. After having his fill of bread and a little liquor he made his way back to the Inn to retire for the evening.

Takes a small leather bound book from a pouch harnessed to Riverwind. He quickly jotted down his thoughts. He spared the ink, for he had little left and was many days travel from provisions.
Made my way to the Salty Dog tavern in Britain this evening. My stay was short. Judas spoke of work, Elerius of a map, and before I knew it I was off. Elerius lead us to the small encampment.
Our plan was to keep an eye on the surroundings and watch for anything odd going on around the encampment. I made a short trip around the encampment, keeping my distance. It was a lame excuse for a camp. Broken, weathered, and crumbling was the shape of buildings. The inhabitants...well... they were about the same.
We made camp a short distance into the woods. The ground was damp so we took shelter in the heights of the trees. Settled in for the night we watched and listened.

Two days in the tree tops was enough. He left with his notes and made his way back to town. He would seek out Judas and inform him of his discoveries.

Many days now passed since Edred had left the comforts of his home. He had done some recent work for, The Emerald Trading Company, and prior to that wrapped up a few open hide request orders for the local tanners. All was well. Feeling well rested, refreshed and content, Edred was happy. A fire roared in the red hot hearth of his home, the air smelled of stew cooking and fresh baked bread. The night air outside was crisp. Wind howled through the now bare trees as it cracked against the stone of his small home. Prepared for the winter months ahead, Edred, looked forward to some quality relaxation and more time for himself.

Tonight spent the evening at a meeting. We continue to look into the missing goods and events leading to and around this situation. Judas spoke of some potential, 'work', that could trickle down my way.
From the meeting, those that we're free afterwards, made there way to the old, Salty Dog. Conversation was good, the room was full, several drank heavily; it was all fine until Elerius could not longer hold it down. Poor Riverwind received the brute force of his stomach renderings!
After leaving the Dog, I went to the shoreline, Faeryl, the elven woman, followed along with. Riverwind took a trot through the sea water to clean himself the best he could. It worked, though he would need a much needed grooming sooner than later. Fae and I spoke for awhile. It was peaceful and calm.

Many days have passed since I last wrote of my adventures. I would like to say that it was because I was busy with work and making money hand over fist, but that was not the case. This was a slow winter for work, maybe it was the abnormally cold days and nights. I suppose I've been busier though with other endeavors...
I knew it was only a matter of time before she'd know, she probably already knew before it was brought out into the open, I also think her twin sister knew the moment I met her. There wasn't much to it. A simple evening at the Salty Dog, the normal bunch of friends filled the room with conversation and stories. The drinks, ale and wine, flowed like they always did. Everyone seemed cheerful and content. Judas and Jolicia did the evening ritual of flirting, Elerius joked and did a bit of drinking, I sat quietly as did Fae.
The group of friends slowly made their ways home. As the evening passed it was Fae and myself who remained. We talked about her twin sister, some training Fae was working on, and I expressed frustration with the lack of honest work to be had as of late. It was good conversation, it always was.
From the beginning, I knew she knew. There was a different way among people of her kind. Elves have a unique way of understanding others, especially others like themselves. She asked a very direct question, one I did not expect, "Are you going to tell the others?" my eyes widened a bit, though my face probably gave off more of an expression of surprise than I actually felt. I paused for a moment...she sat and waited patiently as she watched me from across the table. "I should, I feel safe here, this is a good group of friends." I replied. "It's always been something I have kept hidden though" I finished. She Spoke, "I can tell" As she motioned to the facial hair that I kept. I nodded in reply "A perk of my human blood" I said, "It's better for my work that I've kept myself hidden beneath this mask." She didn't say anything, but I knew she would understood.
I always felt more human. Both my parents were human, the ones that raised me at least. My mother having had a previous Elven lover...I was fortunate to be raised how I was...I had never spent any significant time among Elves, I had never been to their lands, or met my Elven father. None of that bothered me though. I didn't hold any grudges or foul taste for the Elven blood that also raced through my veins. I knew I was unique, different, in a good way.
The conversation drifted off onto other topics as we chatted throughout the evening. Later we retired, I headed for "The Sweet Dreams" Inn, she, left for Lucas's home, like she did most evenings.
I checked into the inn after stabling Riverwind for the evening. The innkeeper was sweet, the daughter of the owner. She always gave me a deal, which I accepted, though I tipped her well every morning after I left. I walked into the same room I always used. It was clean, rarely used by others from what I could tell. It didn't take long for me to get into bed...I was tired, the bottle of wine I had drank didn't help with the sleepiness either...nor did the whores down the hall...their fake screams and moans of pleasure were easy to decipher. I blocked out everything around me and focused...
I laid awake...wondering...had anything changed...was there going to be something different now...maybe none of it mattered and it was nothing more than my own worrying that made it all seem somehow worse...before I could continue...I dosed off into a hard sleep...

*As the sun rose and peeked through the lacy curtains that covered the windows of the small room at the inn, Edred woke. He spent the next several days alone trying to gather his thoughts while deep in thought.*

the worn journal was opened and turned to the first clean page
The last couple of weeks I've spent mostly on thought than any real action or work. First, my identity was brought into the open, secondly, the death of a close friend, it affected everyone, some more than others, which brings me to what's recently troubled me; Fae and her struggle with loss. I have not spoken with her since the night I "snapped", though I saw it as "tough love". Our evening ended on a better note that it began, after our talk at the Unicorn's Dream, but I was still questioning how long it might take to shake off the awkwardness of the events; Hopefully not long.
making the last stroke with the pen Edred rested it back in the holder next to the ink. He blew on the freshly marked page and then closed the book.

The last few days have been uneventful and unfortunately quiet. While preparing to leave Britain last night an old man dressed in white approached me, he was asking about a place to grab a meal...The Salty Dog I told him. He told me to lead on, I did. I did not catch his name, though hope I have to chance to another time. He looked like the sort of guy that could teach you a thing or two, at least I'd hope so, based on his age.
